The bundle contains letters from Sir John Chetwode bart to his brother-in-law George Harry Grey (1765-1845), 6th Earl of Stamford, concerning certain conveyances and financial transactions relating to Chetwode's settled estates. Lord Stamford was the sole surviving trustee under the settlement made in 1785 upon the marriage of his sister Henrietta (1764-1826) to Sir John Chetwode. His approval was sought for the sale of certain estates, and for the application of trust money to the purchase of a field near Chetwode's home at Oakley Hall, Staffordshire. There is also a declaration or acknowledgement by Lord Stamford concerning the trust money (EGR4/2/6/4/5).
