The series has been divided into the following subseries: bank account books (EGR4/1/6/1), bundles of vouchers for expenditure primarily connected with Dunham Massey (EGR4/1/6/2) and other financial papers (EGR4/1/6/3-45). The latter contains the majority of items, including statements of the 5th Earl of Stamford's account with his financial and legal adviser, insurance documents, annuity certificates, bundles of vouchers for goods and services purchased by Mary Countess of Stamford before her death, vouchers for the funeral of Mary Countess of Stamford, vouchers for clothes purchased for the wedding of Lady Amelia Grey, and numerous bundles of vouchers for goods and services purchased in London and for expenditure on the Earl of Stamford's London house.
Household accounts are to be found elsewhere, in subfonds EGR7, Household Records. Fractions of pennies have been omitted from all monetary figures.
