Letter from Thomas Bell to Mr [Edmund] Field. T.B. has copied a document supplied by Field, which "clears up the fog which seemed to obscure the life of G[ilbert] W[hite]'s father". Notes that Lord Selborne [Roundell Palmer, 1st Baron Selborne of Selborne] was indignant when he found that he been cheated into contributing a preface to the Macmillan edition of The natural history of Selborne, unaware that T.B. himself was working on an edition. Lord Selborne then provided T.B. with a preface and has made many interesting contributions to the catalogue of plants in the neighbourhood.
