The extension and improvement of the Fothergil Homes almshouses at Clifton, York, was the result of a collaboration between the JRMT, the JRMHT, and York City Charities who owned the property. Between 1963 and 1974 the Trust's architect at the Louis de Soissons' Partnership designed a substantial new development on the site which incorporated lessons learned from the Trust's accommodation for the elderly at New Earswick. This was subsequently extended.
The cost of the work was met through private gifts, subsidies and the endowment of York City Charities, with the JRMT and JRMHT providing a development service
