Bibles of the Watts family and notes on Dr Watts

Scope and Content

Two bibles: (i) 1614, preceded by The genealogies recorded in the sacred scriptures ... and The booke of Common Prayer. It records the birth of children, of Isaac and Sarah Watts, including Isaac, the hymn writer, in 1674 (ii) 1661, with signature of Isaac Watts, 1669, his manuscript contemplations and acrostic petitions; with printed concordance 1663; with manuscript notes by George Izod on Dr Watts, early nineteenth century.

Administrative / Biographical History

Two bibles belonging to the Watts family. The 1614 bible belonged to the Watts family and was given to Isaac Watts in 1659 by his grandfather, Thomas.
