The letters to Alan Wace were appraised by Elizabeth French and David French in 1962. Only the letters pertaining to archaeology were selected.
Elizabeth French obtained copies of letters sent by Alan to other archaeologists and scholars, such as Sir Arthur Evans, from their archives and has included these copies with her father’s material.
The correspondence files were split between three boxes on arrival at the repository. As original order has been lost, they have been arranged in alphabetical order by the name of the sender, thereafter in chronological order.
