Material related to the SMART-1 mission. SMART-1 (Small Missions for Advanced Research and Technology) was a satellite launched in 2003 to test solar electric propulsion, other deep-space technologies and to perform scientific observations of the Moon whilst in orbit. The file includes a leaflet entitled 'SMART-1: Europe to the Moon - a SMART move for the future' with a proposed addendum; an informational brochure about the satellite entitled 'SMART-1: By Sun power to the Moon' (2002); hand drawn illustrations for a proposed poster; notes and hand drawn illustrations for diagrams to be included in the SMART-1 brochure; a list of the special videographic artwork required for the SMART-1 brochure; discussion of the timeline and dissemination of information about SMART-1 to the public; and email discussion, notes, scripts and visual layouts for programmes concerning the intentional crash of the SMART-1 on the moon at the end of its mission.
