Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The Scottish Association of Executive Councils was formed as the Scottish Association of Insurance Committees, and adopted its new title in 1948 when the Executive Councils were created to oversee relations between the National Health Service and opticians and general practitioners of medicine and dentistry. The Scottish Association of Executive Councils acted as a forum for the exchange of information, promoted best practice and represented the interests of the Scottish Executive Councils to government and parliament. It was dissolved in 1974 .
