GODINGTON PARISH RECORDS

Scope and Content

Godington is a village to the north-west of Oxfordshire, right on its border with Buckinghamshire. In 1928 Godington was united with Stratton Audley, but in 1983 these parishes were united with Fringford, Hethe and Stoke Lyne. These parishes have now been joined by Cottisford, Finmere, Hardwick-cum- Tusmore, Mixbury, Newton Purcell and Shelswell to form the Shelswell group of parishes.

The parish records of Godington were deposited originally with the Bodleian Library as MSS.D.D.Par Godington in 1954, 1960, 1961, and 1979 and 1980. These records have been recatalogued as PAR114. There is a concordance of old and new references at the end of the catalogue. PAR114/3/A1/1 was deposited as accession 5025 in August 2002. Further records were deposited in August 2012 as Acc 6120.

Recatalogued by Robin Darwall-Smith in September 1996, and additions made in October 2002 by Jenny Childs and by Alison Smith in December 2012.
