Scope and Content

The file contains correspondence and enclosures, drawings and equipment manufacturer information. It contains early discussions with companies that design and build stage equipment, with letters announcing Theatre Projects Consultants Ltd's appointment as stage equipment and lighting consultants, correspondence with possible contractors requesting information, brochures and preliminary discussions for the project and correspondence with various embassies to enquire about foreign companies selling stage equipment. There are also quotations and tenders for lifts, consoles, motors and other equipment. Correspondents include Denys Lasdun & Partners with various equipment companies, with the correspondence then continued by Theatre Projects Consultants Ltd, with Waagner-Biro, The Mole-Richardson Organisation, Maschinenfabrik Wiesbaden GMBH, Lift & Engineering Ltd, Kleigl Bros, Hall Stage Equipment Limited, Vickers Limited Engineering Group, and others as well as a number of embassies and trade delegations, including The Royal Norwegian Embassy, the Embassy of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the Trade Delegation of the USSR. Items include formal tenders from Consolidated Pneumatic Tool Company Limited and Platt-Schindler Lifts Limited (No. LD.3131) for lifts, a drawing of a 'Variable Frequency Hoist Console' with labelled buttons, Sketch RBG/SK 52 (26.6.68) showing the Local Control Box, Master Control For Unit A and Selection Panel for Group Operation, an outline specification for a magnetic clutch hoist unit, a schedule showing the breakdown of specifications and possible sub-contracts on stage equipment installation (904/SC1), sketch number C.127 'Metool Brckt Mtd.
