Scope and Content

The file contains correspondence and enclosures, sketches and reports. The material largely consists of correspondence with the architects regarding the purchase of equipment and parts, late changes, problems with contractors and remedial work. Specific topics include Pye Business Communications Ltd supervisory costs; electrical installation in the Studio Theatre; noise insulation of the offstage music room; distortion of the control room windows and acoustical issues should they be changed; telephones - alterations, security of exchange, in Cottesloe, access room, box office, booking desks and lifts, sound desks; high temperatures damaging equipment; production desk furniture; signage and statutory notices; Medgar Engineering Ltd's and Stancoil Ltd's contracts; testing procedures and approval of stage equipment; GLC licence for Lyttelton; injury to a member of the public; claims and extra payments on contracts; electrical testing; television outside broadcast cables; adequate on-site supervision for contractors; temporary closure of the Lyttelton; who was responsible for the overall design of the Cottesloe Theatre; employment of Vickers Ltd to help deal with contractors and their appraisal of the rear stage wagon; problems with Mole-Richardson (Stage & Studio Engineering) Ltd and Hall Stage Equipment Ltd regarding progress and remedial work; an assessment of the maintenance needs of the Theatre; and the audience view from the front row of the circle.
