Administrative / Biographical History

Locita Brandy, born on the island of Nevis and who settled in the Moss Side area in 1957, founded the Manchester Carnival in 1972. She arranged along with her other neighbours in the Moss side area of Manchester to set up a Caribbean carnival celebration in Manchester. Manchester Carnival has brought Caribbean culture to the forefront annually for over 40 years and is the north west's largest celebration of Caribbean music and arts. The Carnival is a vibrant celebration of Caribbean music, dance, theatre and costume.
