Letter from Arthur Powell

Scope and Content

In his letter to his parents he thanks them for their several letters, including a parcel which was sent on the 7th August. He has also received letters from them dated the 14th and 16th. The post is obviously reaching him easily at this time. He is currently on the Lewis Gunning Section, and has asked his parents to address his post accurately; Machine Gun section clearly written on the envelope, in the order name, number, MG section, company, Reg (British Expeditionary Force), France. He apologises for the short letter, as he wishes to catch the evening post. He asks his parents not to bother with socks, but to please send 'Phosphine Tablets' as he is having trouble with his teeth. The food, surprisingly, is very good and he feels well fed.

Dated at: France.
