Letter from Arthur Powell

Scope and Content

Letter to his parents written from his bed after a 22-mile march. It had been raining all day and he is, 'fagged and aching all over'. Tomorrow they go on a 25-mile march, and in the evening they will bivouac outdoors. The unit has a new Brigade Colonel direct from France, who is a 'devil'. They have been cleaning and have had inspections, but he talks of excitement in the camp as summer leave starts on the Saturday. He encloses a photograph of his company's turn-out, although this is not included with this letter.
