Letter to his parents. He begins with the mention of the Gallipoli campaign and its anniversary, in which the 1st Manchester Brigade suffered heavy losses. He is proud that they have won the sports competition, 'The prize was not much but the honour was great'. Their Brigade Major said they were the best guard and had excellent drill skills. Summer leave is now expected as the measles epidemic has subsided in Manchester. They will go out in drafts of 10% for a 4-day leave, 2 days additional for travelling.
