Photographs show missionaries, colleagues and contemporaries with Rev Tester, in Madagascar, 1915-1930s. They include family and group shots. Identified individuals include a wedding photograph of Thomas Tester and his first wife Hettie (nee Morley), 1902 (Hettie died in 1924); Thomas Tester and his second wife, Ethel (nee Knight), c1927; Dr James Sharman, Principal of the Theological College, Tananarive, and his wife Ann (nee Read), c1932; Mr Hawkins from LMS Headquarters, n.d.; James Sibree and his wife, n.d..

Administrative / Biographical History

Thomas Tester served as a missionary with the London Missionary Society in Madagascar between 1901 and 1939. He resided for a time at Ambohidratrimo; removed to Vangaina in 1904, opening a new station there; transferred to the station and district of Ambohimanga in 1922; was appointed to the Theological College in Tananarive, with charge of districts in 1927, and retired in 1939.
