Administrative / Biographical History

The Congress took place between 20 and 24 September 1965. Entitled 'Design and the Community', the event addressed the social responsibility of industrial designers and public authorities in the development and improvement of public facilities, namely transport; the street; education and health.

Participants numbered 460, from 27 countries. They included Tomas Maldonado (Argentina), Bruce Archer, Reyner Banham and Misha Black (UK), and Julian Beinart (South Africa).
