Papers of the Association of Social Workers, previously known as the British Federation of Social Workers.

Administrative / Biographical History

Established in 1935 as British Federation of Social Workers, the name was changed to the Association of Social Workers in 1951. In 1970 the association merged with six other social workers' organisations to form the British Association of Social Workers.

Acquisition Information

The archive of the predecessors of the British Association of Social Workers was transferred to the Centre from the Association's headquarters on the 17th July 1997. There have been no further accruals since that date.
