Scope and Content

From Kunming. He does not leave until 7am tomorrow. He hopes to be in Kueiyang [Kweiyang] at about 2pm on Sunday 22nd October and from there as soon as possible to Kueilin [Kweilin] where he hopes [Robert Sefton] Harrison will be there to meet him on about October 25th. After that he will go quickly to Yungchow on the border of Hunan.

While he hopes to be in Hong Kong by mid-November, it is more likely to be the end. Alternatively he may go from Hunan to Hankow but that is unlikely.

He thought that Emily would be interested in the enclosed photograph.

He was very tired yesterday but he should be able to start fairly fresh tomorrow.

A General Secretary's journey is certainly not an easy one. It is all however needful.

They wait for war news every day. Except for this pact with Russia, Germany would not have had any chance. As it is, the Russians are winning all the way down the line.
