Correspondence of Bertram Rota

Scope and Content

Bertram Rota Ltd, antiquarian booksellers, correspond with Graves between 1965 and 1974 on a number of subjects, including: T.E.Lawrence; publishing 'Colophon' (on which subject there are two letters to Selwyn Jepson), 'Beyond Giving', and 'At the Gate'; buying and selling books for Graves; and selling Graves's manuscripts. Between 1989 and 1992 the firm corresponded with Beryl Graves about selling manuscripts. The series includes one [copy, draft or unsent?] ms letter from Graves to Bertram Rota (21 January 1971). There is also a bundle of photocopy ts lists: 'Index of Photographs for Robert Graves 80th Birthday issue', and Graves material sold by Bertram Rota, some with copy ms annotations in an unidentified hand; much of this material was sold to the University of Victoria.
