Correspondence between Laura Riding and James Reeves

Scope and Content

The file contains carbon copies of Laura Riding's correspondence to James Reeves (1933), and James Reeves's letters to Riding (1934). The correspondence is principally on the subject of 'The Critical Vulgate' series.

Note

Canelluñ Collection number: CC0450

This refers to the arrangement of the papers in Robert Graves’ study before they were transferred to the College.

Custodial History

It is unclear why this correspondence remained at Deyá: in the 1970s Beryl Graves returned any papers she found that Riding had left behind at Canelluñ in 1936. The material arrived filed in a bundle of papers concerning Riding pre-1951 [WG ref CC0450 and CC0451] but placed here during cataloguing as the majority of the other papers completed other existing correspondence series.
