Scope and Content

Correspondence relating to Dyson and Tucker's campaigning for homosexual rights. Some items of note include:

  • /2: Undated copy letter from Cliff Tucker to Mrs W.A.B. Forbes of the Law Commission, discussing the Blasphemy Law. Tucker states that he has resigned his membership of the Church of England over the law. He encloses a letter from the Archbishop of Canterbury and mentions [Mary] Whitehouse and her campaign. He also expresses concern at the proposal to extend the Blasphemy Law to other religions.[The letter is in relation to Mary Whitehouse's successful attempt to prosecute Gay News for the publication of a 'blasphemous' poem].
  • /6: Letter from Maralyn Smith of Woman's Own to the Campaign for Reason dated 5 May 1978. Smith asks for a copy of Towards a Charter of Homosexual Rights and states that the problem page department receive many letters from distressed homosexual men and women.
  • /9: Undated typescript by Dyson titled 'Dislocations', concerning homosexual civil rights and law reform.
