Cardiff University Industry Centre Management Committee, 1974-87

Scope and Content

In 1974, the creation of Cardiff University Industry Centre (C. U. I. C.) grew out of the success of the Wolfson Laboratory for the Biology of Industry. It was decided with the agreement of the Senate that the initiative of the Wolfson Laboratory should be developed to include more departments, and be given structure, allowing it to operate more effectively. The objectives of the Management Committee were to assist in the development of selected areas of applied research, to assist college departments to obtain contract research and consulting work, and to assist in development of multi-disciplinary teaching schemes which meet the needs of industry. The Centre was structured with the Principal (Chair); the Management Committee made up of Professors, Bursar and College Secretary; and a Manager and Secretary.
