Administrative / Biographical History

The National Amalgamated Union of Life Assurance Workers was founded in 1919, after the union of the National Life Assurance Agents Association, the Wesleyan and General Assurance Agents' Association, the Prudential Life Assurance Agents' Association, the Blackburn Philanthropic Assurance Agents' Association, and the Scottish Legal (English, Irish and Welsh) Assurance Agents' Association. Affiliating to the Trades Union Congress, the union remained under the title of NAULAW until 1964, when it amalgamated with the National Federation of Insurance Workers under the title of the National Union of Insurance Workers.

Frank Crump was a member of NAULAW, and the union's General Secretary during the mid-1970s. He died in 1987.
