OCC assumed responsibility for the schools from 1/10/1954 (under the Polish Resettlement Act rather than 1944 Education Act); later referred to as the Checkendon Polish (Nursery & Infants) Schools

schools closed in Jul/59 (nursery) & Jul/60 (infants/primary); by then most families had been rehoused/moved on but the Checkendon Polish Hostel lingered until ?Nov/1960; remaining children transferred to Sonning Common Primary School
