May/47: OCC received initiating notice from Local Government Boundaries Commission (LGBC) established under Local Government (Boundaries Commission) Act 1945 to commence review of boundaries; OCC required to forward views of district councils and neighbouring counties with their own; LGBC issued sep initiating notices to Bucks/Berks CCs & Oxford/Reading CBs; proposals to be submitted to OCC & affected county districts - Bullingdon & Ploughley RDCs (Oxford), Henley RDC (Reading); conference (LGBC & Oxon CC/districts) on county districts began on 28 Jun - clearly intended as major reform of local govt with abolition of many existing authorities rather than mere boundary changes
