The United French Polishers' Society joined the union in 1969 and the Midland Glass Bevellers' and Kindred Trades' Society in 1970. In 1971 the National Union of Furniture Trade Operatives amalgamated with the Amalgamated Society of Woodcutting Machinists to form the Furniture, Timber and Allied Trades Union.
