These volumes are indexes to artists recorded in the Picture Stock Books, and contain the following information for each artist:
- Stock number(s)
- Title(s) of pictures(s)
- Cost price(s) (this only appears in early volumes)
Early indexes tend to include crossed out entries, which indicate that picture was sold to a buyer before a new index was started. Uncrossed entries tend to be transferred to the following Index to Pictures. Later indexes in this series may include a small dot or mark next to some entries; this indicates that the picture in question can be found transferred to one or more Picture Stock Books. Please note that these indexes may not be complete.
