Scope and Content

The Portrait Fund Committee was established in 2006. The aim of the Committee is to manage the finances of the Portrait Fund - a fund established during the Gallery's 150th Anniversary year, to provide essential endowment funds for the acquisition of outstanding portraits. During its first year, the Committee met several times to establish the constitution of the Fund (finalising the Trust Deed). Thereafter the Committee has met, and continues to meet 2-3 times, a year.

Meetings are attended by the Director, Chief Curator & Deputy Director, Director of Communications and Development & Deputy Director, Head of Finance and Planning, Major Donor Development Manager. They are also attended by the Trustees of the Portrait Fund, a group of invited members with whom the Gallery already has a relationship. According to the Trust Deed, one of the Portrait Fund Trustees must also be a Gallery Trustee.

This series also includes one file of material relating to the establishment o the Portrait Fund, 2003-2004 [NPG65/1].
