Letters, addressed to Westall from children and adult readers of his work. Occasional photocopies of his replies are included. Later correspondence specifically that answered by Lindy McKinnel after Westall's death consistently includes a copy of her reply.
Correspondence from children was often sent by cover of a particular school, usually with a covering letter from the form teacher, and assorted letters from children. Westall normally replied with one letter in answer to various queries from different members of the class (the Roddy Campbell Collection (RC/01) contains two examples of his replies to class groups). The file also contains several extended sequences of correspondence, mostly with class groups. Although the majority of correspondence is from British readers, the files also include significant proportions of letters signifying a broader, international readership, specifically in the USA and Canada.
