Dr. Rogers was Rector of Holton in 1665-1684, who left £200 to provide for the apprenticeship of 20 to 25 poor boys of Holton. This money was used to buy some land at Brill, and the income from it first paid for a school, and then for the upkeep of the Victoria Reading Room (built in in 1887 to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria). The correspondence concerns the general administration of the Charity, and the decisions to sell the land at Brill, the schoolroom and the Victoria Reading Room.
