Keyes Papers. Vol. cliii. Belgian papers; 27 Aug. 1939– 20 June 1945, n.d. Partly French. Contains official notification of Keyes’s appointment, memoranda by Keyes on the Belgian situation, reports of his meetings with King Leopold, extracts from Keyes’s diary, a copy of Britain’s guarantee to Belgian in the event of a German invasion, papers on the King’s views on the guarantee, texts of telegrams and signals, and maps of the military situation in Belgium between 21 May 1940 and 27 May 1940. Also contains the text of a signal sent by American troops to a Belgian Fusilier battalion in June 1945 ordering them to detain King Leopold if found.
