Scope and Content

'Diary of a tour through Spain and the Mediterranean in the years 1808-1810', a typescript copy with illustrations. There are additional pages, containing 'Incidents in the life of F.S. Darwin' and letters.

Administrative / Biographical History

Sir Francis Sacheverell Darwin (1786-1859) was born on 17 June 1786, and educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He resided at Breadsall Priory, Derbyshire, and was a Justice of the Peace and Deputy Lieutenant. Darwin died on 6 November 1859, and was buried at Breadsall.
