COPY LETTER from Messrs. Stocken, May, Sykes and Dearman to S. Williams, esq., Messrs. Wm. Thomas and Co,. 230 Tower Buildings, Water St., Liverpool 3 re Eilian Hill, Ivor Jones. The master, mate and bosun had ultimately co-operated and given the full story 'as they know it'. In compliance with the practice carried out on the ship a hatch from each corner of the hold was left off when the hold was covered the previous evening and these 4 were put on the tarpaulin, and the role of this in Jones' fall and possible causes. They advised that a surveyor inspect the hatches and as the vessel was leaving that day for Antwerp they ask they ask to be informed when the vessel was returning to London in order to make the necessary arrangements.
