Copy Letter: [Messrs. Wm. Thomas and Sons, Amlwch Port] to Mr. Oakes

Scope and Content

COPY LETTER: [Messrs. Wm. Thomas and Sons, Amlwch Port] to Mr. Oakes following a visit by Mr. Oakes to the yard and asking if there was any prospect of work.

Attached

LETTER: Admiralty Regional Officer (Wales), Imperial Buildings, Mount Stuart Sq., Cardiff to Messrs. Wm. Thomas and Sons, Amlwch Port stating that Mr. C. Oakes had passed their letter on to him. He states that the provision of additional employment in Amlwch Port was bound up with the more general question of providing employment in Anglesey which was being considered by the North Wales District Committee of the Welsh Board for Industry. No action re Amlwch Port was planned or envisaged by the Admiralty. If the dry dock was to be brought into use again it would have to be done by private enterprise but any proposals for this would be considered by the Admiralty on their merits and might receive support. He would continue to keep to the need in mind.
