Scope and Content

The material consists of six pieces of writing on Kenneth Armitage and his work. These are:

one typescript, titled 'British Pavilion, XXIX Biennale, Venice 1958 / The Sculpture of Kenneth Armitage / by Alan Bowness' (two copies);

one typescript, titled 'The Artist Speaks', a script by John Read for the BBC (1958);

one typescript, titled 'Kenneth Armitage', by Roland Penrose (1959);

one incomplete, annotated draft of a review of Armitage's work (c 1972);

two copies of a text on 'Richmond Oak';

one incomplete copy of a typescript, titled 'Kenneth Armitage / Richmond Oaks and other works';

one copy of a typescript titled "Kenneth Armitage's 'Richmond Oak'", by John McEwen;

one transcript of an interview with Armitage by Michael Sweeney, dated 10 March 1998.

Also included is a mock-up of the title page for the Lund Humphries book on Kenneth Armitage.
