Scope and Content

The material consists of correspondence and printed material by Count Potocki of Montalk, and correspondence from Hugh Gordon Porteus.

The single letter from Count Potocki of Montalk largely concerns his ancestry and Armitage's doubts over his claim to the Polish throne (1980). Four pamphlets by Count Potocki of Montalk are also included: 'A Lesson in Magic' (c.1940s); 'One More Folly' (1963); 'The Jinx' (1972); and 'Our Verdict' (1973).

The three letters from Hugh Gordon Porteus to Armitage discuss his recent work, his acquaintances, and a meeting between himself, Armitage, and J. S. McEwen (1978-1979).
