Comments on the peace negotiations going on between Russia and Japan [The Peace Treaty between them was signed 23 Aug 1905]. She comments again on Russia's 'wicked and cruel treatment of Poland' and also of the Jews. She relates that there was a strong 'Social Purity and Abolitionist Society ' working in Poland 'before Russia began anew three years ago her awful 'blood and fire' rule there. Madame Piecynska [whom JB had met as a refugee in Switzerland] narrowly escaped being sent to Siberia.
