Written from Hotel Caux, Caux sur Territet, Montreux, Switzerland. No year but from 1895 to 1897 Josephine Butler lived mainly on the Continent.
She said she had only just received her friend's letter so it was too late to draw up a Memorial herself but would trust her fully to do this. Tells her to emphasise the old principles and then states that 'the feeling throughout the country which enabled us to carry repeal in England remains unchanged'. Assures them she is not ill and hopes to do some good work for the Cause. 'I have encouraging news from various countries'.
