'My dear George came to my rooms early this morning looking more himself... not so ill.' George, Josephine Butler's eldest son, had a very serious accident in Apr 1894, as a result of which he was unable to retain his post as senior permanent examiner to the Civil Service Commissioners and had finally to resign at the end of 1895.
