Dated Sunday. Referring to the Elmy case (see letter of 8 Dec 1875 to Mrs Fawcett) she says: I shall be too happy if this wretched affair can be allowed to drop into oblivion. I have advised Mrs E to retire from the Married Women's Property Committee and after all that I must wash my hands of her present and future action. It is awkward for people to retire before threats, but for Mrs Fawcett's threats I believe the retirement might have been accomplished. Mrs Fawcett put it rather too strongly. Glad to hear of Mr Stansfeld's success at Sheffield. Having a full Committee meeting of the Federation on Tuesday.
