Henry J Wilson to the Editor of 'The Times'

This letter is a reply to an article published in 'The Times' on 21 Nov.

The article made reference to 'the largest amount of disease arising from vice in the Indian Army, the ravages of which, you inform your readers 'admit of being brought down to comparatively moderate limits''. However the Army Sanitary Commission confessed they were unable to solve the problem as the disease continued to increase when the time regulations were in force. The writer would like to know what the military have done 'by precept and example to diminish the vice itself'.
