Josephine Butler to her sons

Scope and Content

Copy of a memorandum, undated.

Solemnly asking them not to allow anyone to attempt to write a memoir of her. Her part in the cause is sufficiently covered by 'Personal Reminiscences' and she wishes that nothing personal should ever be brought before the public.

Typed sheet undated noting that in deference to JB's wishes the sources used by the Johnsons and Turner and Fawcett were all works printed in her lifetime. Note: in the 1928 edition of the Johnsons' book some letters to G Johnson are printed; these do not appear elsewhere.
