Copy of letter. Written from Liverpool. Asks him to forward this letter devoted to the present aspect of their Continental work to Mr F Wheeler of Rochester who acts for the Friends' Association. She asks whether they will support her in the appointment of a continental agent already at work whom she suggests could not be offered less than £250.00 a year. At present he retains his post of Professor at £400 a year as he and his wife depend on it for subsistence, and do their work only in the evenings. Given a list of his qualifications and the posts he has held; also the advantages of operating from a neutral country like Switzerland. Speaks of her only daily struggles with languages which she was unaccustomed to speak in.
Note at end 'M Humbert has a very wise and clever wife who works with him'
