Written from Durdham Park where JB was staying with Rhoda (it was the Priestman / Mrs Tanner's home). Mrs Tanner has lent JB and her son Stanley with his wife Rhoda and the two children her Bristol home while they were moving from their St. Andrew's home. The bitter cold which went on to the end of May brought on rheumatism and when they got to Bristol Rhoda became seriously ill. JB reports that Rhoda is a little better but still cannot move.
