Mr JJ Thornton to [Mr Wilson]

Scope and Content

Written from 105 Whalley Rd, Accrington. His opinion of Hardy was that he was 'a thoroughly honest, straightforward and good man' but limited from lack of polish. He, as a minister, has about 900 people to visit and has no time to do more in this direction but more visiting is urgently needed and more accurate information. He offers to pay for sending the 'Shield' to three clergymen or magistrates in the Accrington district.
