She sends an obituary notice for their Report of Pierre Splingard whose death at an early age the previous May was such a loss to Belgium and the Federation. A second notice was of Babu Keshab Chunder Sen., 'one of the earliest adherents of our Cause after it developed into an international League'.

15 [Jan 1884] 'We thought dear Constance was dying on Sunday ... but it has pleased God to revive her a little.' (For Note on her niece Constance see letter of [24 May) 'In speaking of Pierre Splingard we should say something like the following:' JB here gave an appreciation of this young Belgian lawyer who died 14 May 1883 when only 44 years of age, for inclusion in the Report. Both his father M Francois Splingard and his brother M Alexis Splingard were also helpers in the work against traffic in young girls and state regulation of vice.
