Photocopy of letter. Written from Balham

Tells of the bitter winter they are having 'this time the south seems worse than the north'. The chief distress is from lack of water; her house is the only one that has any. The sufferings of the poor are heartrending; 'the streets are crowded with starving working men'. Encloses list of books she is sending for Stanley.
