Copy extract of a letter. Written from 9 Durdham Park, Clifton, Bristol. Written just after the Resolution for the Repeal of the CD Acts was carried in the House without a division. She was in the Ladies' Gallery and described the scene in the House: Mr Stansfeld's moving resolution in a speech 'of great force and beauty'

Enclosed was a printed statement issued by Mrs Tanner for the LNA stating that the Acts had been repealed, dated 19 Mar 1886.

Administrative / Biographical History

[17 Mar 1886] The great victory of last night ... Mr Stansfeld's resolution was agreed to without a division.' 16 Mar 1886. Mr Stansfeld moved: 'that in the opinion of this House the Contagious Diseases Acts 1866-69 ought to be repealed.'
