Thanks the Priestmans for 'your loving and deeply interesting letters about Birmingham. I am so thankful the old spirit is so alive.' (See letters dated 27 Oct and 15 Nov 1896)

'I felt as if I had been thro' the valley of the shadow of death and am not yet quite out of it'. She has been very ill with inflammation of the lungs.

Miss Humbert was recalled to her father but will come back. Asks them to send on her letter to Miss Forsaith

Josephine Butler stayed at the Hotel de Faucon from end of Oct until Christmas when she moved to Neuchatel to be near her friends, the Humberts.
